We are thrilled to announce the completion of another fantastic project at Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue, thanks to the continued support of the National Heritage Lottery Fund and the incredible dedication of our community! This latest addition not only enhances visitor experience but also perfectly aligns with our commitment to sustainability and preserving the “Yew-nique” historical charm of our beloved avenue.

The idea for a dedicated cycle rack stemmed directly from the valuable feedback of our wonderful online community. A huge shout-out to our Facebook follower, Steve Falvey, whose suggestion sparked this initiative! We listened, and we acted.
Given the “Yew-niqueness” of Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue – a site steeped in history and natural beauty – we were keen to avoid intrusive modern structures. Our goal was to find a solution that was both sustainable and harmoniously blended with the serene environment.

And find it we did! We are incredibly grateful to the Forestry Commission for their generous donation of a substantial log, providing the perfect raw material for our vision. From there, the project truly became a testament to local craftsmanship and community spirit. Our fantastic volunteers, Andrew and Adrian, put their skills to work, transforming the log into a beautiful, functional cycle rack. The final installation was made possible with the invaluable assistance of local farmer Robin Hix and his machinery, carefully placing the rack into its new home. The result is a sturdy, natural cycle rack that offers a convenient and secure place for cyclists to store their bikes while they explore the breathtaking beauty of the avenue. It’s a prime example of how thoughtful, sustainable design can meet modern needs without compromising historical integrity.
There are different sizes of cuts allowing for different sizes of bikes, enabling the whole family to come and lock their bikes safely using the cycle lock hooks.

We invite all our visitors to come and see the new cycle rack in person! Whether you’re arriving on two wheels or two feet, we look forward to welcoming you to Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue. This project is just one more step in our ongoing efforts to protect, preserve, and enhance this magnificent heritage site for everyone to enjoy, made possible by the National Heritage Lottery Fund and the amazing people who support us.
